The Rubber Band Effect in politics has occurred throughout history. We are stretched as a nation to grow and expand our capacities then a new administration comes in and we are forced to snap back into a new reality that can change everything and put democracy on the line. This is what we are seeing in our country with an increasing demand on the American public to adjust to changing laws, slashes in government agencies, budgets cuts and government shutdown and yet overspending to countries like Argentina for $40 billion and tariffs that are unfathomable for countries and passed onto American consumers.
During my time running for State House of Colorado we were faced with COVID restrictions and higher inflation due to the flooding of the economy with dollars to keep companies and individuals afloat. That indeed was a huge rubber band and we came back to a new normal after that. Now with the Trump administration, significant rollbacks have been implemented, affecting nearly all key federal agencies including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and its ability to enforce various protections, DOGE cuts to main artery agencies and departments keep the wheels of progress turning in this nation. In addition we are seeing job reports with slow growth and increasing inflation making it harder each day for people to afford the American dream of living here.
The stretching of the American people has become far more than what was expected in this administration. With the wake of the 7 million + marchers at No King’s Rallys change is in the air the demand of a shift from these politics into a more balanced and planned approach to governing. Without proper balance of power the will of the people to stand up for democracy can go stronger. Robert Reich, former Department of Labor Secretary and social media influencer has said recently that the “sleeping giant has awoken”. From his perspective the wholeness of America has decided to speak and protest. And as the stretch of the rubber band continues at some point the snap back to a new reality will inevitably happen.
We are already seeing it with the November 2025 elections where in Virginia every single county voted democrat. All across the nation there was a sweep of wins for the progressive candidates demanding more accountability and getting back to focusing on key issues such as health care, food costs and housing. November midterms 2026 could see more wins. And this is where preparation is key.
Several months ago I asked politicians at state and federal levels at a meeting, “is there a plan like Project 2025 that is progressive, a blueprint for a modern democracy?” Each time I was met with an answer, I’m unsure or I don’t know. It’s easy to take it as a disappointment and lack of organization, however, the past is the past and the future is in demand. So I got to work and carved out the idea for a blueprint.
Working with Regen America and Michael DiMartino as well as assistance from AI to craft a plan that is called “Regenerate America: Blueprint 2030”. It is a living document and currently over 150 pages in length, but it needs people of professional knowledge and acumen to ensure that we are carving the right path, the one that is best for our country and the people. The plan includes an outline for each federal agency and department with a plan for renewal and strengthening. Tackling the budget deficit, growing military budget, environmental and social deregulations, and large budget cuts to FEMA and Department of Education this plan is a starting point to strengthen our resolve for a better, stronger America.
What can happen as a result of this document is that there is a guiding plan for candidates, NGOs and political leaders to point to. With deregulation and loss of social safety nets, the lives of people, our environment and the economy, not just in America, but other countries will be severely impacted. Already we are seeing signs of distress:
The damaging effects are already taking place, however, with focus and a coordinated plan we can ensure that a positive outcome can take place over time and be implemented. A blueprint with experts leaning into and sharing with NGOs, political and social leaders, candidates and the media we can have successes. Like any business or organization, a business plan is critical in order to reach goals. Having a plan for each federal agency and department will allow us to create a new well orchestrated direction that can have an impact on generations to come.
